Last week, Israel celebrated its 69th birthday. As Israel celebrated, so did its friends all around the world – including at Florida State University, where CAMERA-supported group Noles for Israel put on a party for students.

Students at FSU celebrating Yom Ha’atzmaut

The celebration included three stations, each focusing a different city in Israel. At “Jerusalem”, students could see a model of the Western Wall, the wall around the holiest site in Judaism. In “Tel Aviv” they could get some Israeli food from the “shuk”. And in “Tzfat”, they could decorate a Hamsa, a traditional Jewish charm. So students were able to get a taste of Israeli places, Israeli food, and Israeli culture.

Noles for Israel were also active on Yom Ha’atzmaut on their Facebook page, sharing pictures and videos, including the Yom Ha’atzmaut message of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. For pro-Israel students who work so hard defending and educating about Israel on campus, Yom Ha’atzmaut was a great opportunity to celebrate the fantastic country they love. We are already looking forward to birthday number 70!
