CAMERA Fellows all over the country are screening the new film about life in the IDF, Beneath the Helmet.
Elana Zelden, CAMERA Fellow at the University of Illinois, recently screened the film to 30 interested students on her campus. Then, a student who had served in the IDF spoke at the gathering and answered questions about his service.
Elana reported, “The movie does a great job in portraying the soldiers; everyone really enjoyed the movie and the speaker! They said that both just made them feel so connected to Israel and gave them a sneak peek into the life of a young IDF soldier. One student asked if Arabs were allowed to join the army, and the presenter answered by discussing a close friend of his who was Arab and went through the army with him.”
