UB for Israel hosted its first annual, Welcome Back BBQ on September 2nd, 2015.
We wanted to have this event to attract people to our club. The BBQ was held in an open space on campus with many people, so all the participants and those passing by could see our banner and Israeli flags. The space attracted a lot of people who were interested in Israel, but didn’t know that our club existed before this event.
The BBQ had food, drinks and fun.The BBQ also had live music, which attracted those who heard it to the BBQ. There were games like Kan Jam, football, and soccer going on. The BBQ had a relaxed atmosphere in which people were able to talk and make new friends.
We hope that this event will lead to increase membership within the club and will let people know that there is a pro-Israel club on campus. We hope to see many of the new faces from the BBQ at the rest of our events events. This seems likely, as many students at the BBQ were interested in the club and asked about future events, meetings, and ways to help our cause.
