On March 10th, UC Santa Cruz’s Slugs for Israel group hosted an Israeli Music Fest for students and community members. The group hoped to create an environment where students could listen, enjoy, and dance to Israeli music, exposing the community to songs sung in Hebrew. The group partnered with Israeli UCSC professor of music Avi Tchamni to help attract a larger audience. Tchamni also helped the group scope out performers for the fest.
CAMERA liaison Josh Frank reported the fest was a success, with a large turnout of over 300 students. He hopes to expand the festival in the future, hopefully including food in the celebration.
