On April 19th, Boston College’s EMET for Israel group, Eagles for Israel, invited David Horowitz to come give a presentation to students about Israel. Horowitz is an internationally known political commentator and author, and he lectured BC students about the state of Israel with the title of his presentation being “In Defense of Israel”, and focused primarily on Israel’s right to exist. Horowitz is the founder of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, an editor of FrontPage Magazine, and Director of Discover the Networks. In addition, Horowitz is the founder of the organization “Students for Academic Freedom”.
At the conclusion of his lecture, BC students were not afraid to ask Horowitz the tough questions, and he responded well while defending his beliefs. This was one of the largest pro-Israel events yet, with over 50 attendees. As Sonia Iosim explains, “We invited a lot of people to our Facebook event, put up flyers all over the school, and contacted professors from a variety of departments about notifying their students about the event.” At their next event, they will be looking for even more attendees, as they hope that their events will only increase in size and popularity from here on out.
