On October 28th, the Campus Israel Alliance at Oral Roberts University invited their local congressman, Jim Bridenstine, to speak at a campus event. CAMERA EMET for Israel group Liaison Connie Hammond hoped the voice of a local politician would add meaningful opinions to the campus discussion of the US’s relationship with Israel.
The Congressman addressed the 60-odd attendees not only on the diplomatic relations between the United States and Israel, but also his personal love and respect for Israel. In addition, Congressman Bridenstine was able to connect different international events back to the US and Israel, highlighting further the relationship between the two. Hammond reported that throughout the course of the lecture, Bridenstine connected well with the students. An extensive question-and-answer session followed the talk, and most of the students were able to personally meet the Congressman.
Students were pleased with the Congressman’s talk, and Hammond reported that his lecture “met and exceeded our anticipated impact.”
