Dear President Drinan,
My name is Allison Moldoff and I am a junior here at Simmons College. Last semester I went on a study abroad in Tel Aviv, Israel. Upon my return, I was chosen as a Campus Fellow for CAMERA: The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in North America. Our goal is to ensure that the media, whether local or school, is truthfully reporting on Middle Eastern Affairs, and especially that of Israel.
I wanted to make you aware of a concerning matter regarding the conflict in the Middle East. A Students for Justice in Palestine group has formed on our campus. They have a record of harassing pro-Israel and Jewish students on campuses nation-wide; in fact the president of the organization has called for a disruption on campuses everywhere, on the eve of Rosh Hashanna, the Jewish new year. An article is below which discusses this.
I believe that it is important to bring this to your attention as well as to the school administration. I value that Simmons has always created a safe environment for all of its students. This matter is of particular concern to Jewish and Pro-Israel students. As a Jewish student and a Zionist, I do not want to be made to feel uncomfortable at my own college. I hope that the administration at Simmons College takes this matter into deep consideration to ensure that members of SJP do not behave as their president and founder ask them to towards Jewish students and Jewish/Pro Israel organizations.
Thank you,
