CAMERA on Campus pledges to give students the resources they need to stand against Jew-hatred. Today, we are launching SJP Exposed, a campaign that provides students with educational materials to support their grassroots efforts and to empower them to proudly stand with Israel in the face of adversity on campus. Visit www.sjpexposed.org to learn more.
CAMERA on Campus condemns Students for Justice in Palestine’s intentions to launch a “Day of Resistance” campaign involving a series of demonstrations at college and university campuses throughout the United States. We urge administrators to publicly disapprove of and sever ties with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Educational institutions must also guarantee the safety and inclusion of Jewish and pro-Israel students on campus. This issue is not a matter of free speech but rather a clear case of promoting and endorsing ethnic discrimination and violence against the Jewish community.
On Saturday, October 7th, 2023, the world witnessed the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. But on that very day, SJP chapters immediately began lauding Hamas’ war crimes against Israeli civilians and declaring “victory.”
Today, with the dust settling, we have come to understand that Hamas militants in Gaza launched indiscriminate rocket barrages into Israel. Some of these rockets landed in Palestinians’ own areas. Additionally, Hamas sent terrorists through Israel’s security barrier to commit heinous acts such as kidnapping, assault, and murder against over a thousand Israeli civilians and tourists from various countries, spanning all age groups from infants to the elderly.
Despite confirmed reports, SJP chapters have responded by intensifying their rhetoric, going as far as to declare October 12th a national “Day of Resistance” across the country, where they plan to host several rallies and demonstrations in a show of solidarity with Hamas.
These incidents, anticipated to occur in or around university campuses, unveil the genuine intentions behind SJP’s “activism”: advocating for the eradication of the State of Israel and singling out Jewish individuals both within and outside Israel.
We urge students and community members to voice their concerns regarding SJP’s “Day of Resistance” and to ensure that university administrators and officials are informed about the group’s efforts to align with the serious war crimes committed by Hamas since October 7th. We anticipate that anyone in a position to serve all students, including Jewish students, will distance themselves from SJP’s blatant display of hostility towards the Jewish community.
