CAMERA on Campus Launches 5th Annual ‘Apartheid Week Exposed’ Campaign to Counter Misinformation and Rising Antisemitism on College Campuses

Boston, MA – In response to the growing wave of antisemitism and misinformation targeting Jewish and pro-Israel students, CAMERA on Campus proudly announces the launch of its fifth annual ‘Apartheid Week Exposed’ campaign. This initiative equips students with critical tools to combat anti-Israel disinformation and confront hostility on their campuses.

“This campaign is designed to arm students with the resources they need to expose false narratives and combat the anti-Israel, pro-terror rhetoric that has taken over college campuses,” said CAMERA on Campus’s social media manager, Sasha Chernyak. “The rise of antisemitic rhetoric and intimidation tactics on campus demands that we stand firm in defending the facts.”

The campaign is strategically timed to counter ‘Israeli Apartheid Week,’ an event organized by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and other anti-Israel groups across North America. These groups often employ aggressive rhetoric and disruptive actions, contributing to an environment of fear and hostility for Jewish students.

“Since the October 7th Hamas-led attack against Israel, we have witnessed an alarming rise in antisemitism worldwide,” said Hali Spiegel, CAMERA’s Campus Director. “According to the AMCHA Initiative, over 3,400 incidents of antisemitism have been recorded on U.S. campuses since January 2023, with SJP playing a leading role in most cases.”

CAMERA Fellows from across the country are speaking out against this hostile campus climate.

“Our campus has seen a disturbing normalization of antisemitic rhetoric,” said Alyssa Wallack, a CAMERA Fellow at the University of Southern California (USC). “Through this campaign, we aim to expose these dangerous narratives and educate our peers with facts.”

At the University of Chicago, Joachim Sciamma emphasized the importance of direct engagement: “As students, we must be prepared to challenge misinformation. By participating in CAMERA’s campaign, we are actively pushing back against the falsehoods that seek to delegitimize Israel.”

Shelly Khaikan, a CAMERA Fellow at UC San Diego, added, “This initiative is about reclaiming our voices on campus. We refuse to let anti-Israel activists define the narrative through intimidation and deceit.”
