The CAMERA Fellowship supports student leaders as they develop and strengthen their pro-Israel activism on campus. With the school year about the begin, InFocus is giving you an inside look into the 2016-17 CAMERA Fellows, who will be working hard to promote the facts about Israel on campus.
Meet Rebecca Katzman.
A rising senior at Ryerson Univeristy in Toronto, Canada, Rebecca Katzman is studying Social Work, psychology and sociology.
Last year, Rebecca was Vice Chair of the Social Work Student Union and the Vice President of Ryerson’s chapter of Students Supporting Israel. This year, she will serve as president of Students Supporting Israel at Ryerson University.
Rebecca is a very active advocate for Israel. In the past few years, she has been a StandWithUs Emerson Fellow and a Hasbara Fellow. Rebecca is very excited to serve as a CAMERA Fellow this coming school year and to strengthen her Israel advocacy work on campus.
Rebecca feels she learned a lot during ]CAMERA’s annual Student Leadership and Advocacy Training Conference. Between the seminars and discussions, the conference enriched her knowledge about Israel and the issues the country faces.
Rebecca is grateful for the opportunity she had to attend the conference. “I had the pleasure to network and share ideas with many student leaders from around the world,” she says. “Most importantly, I learned about the detrimental effects media inaccuracies can have on Israel and the importance of combating these falsehoods,” she notes.
After attending the conference and now continuing her involvement with CAMERA on Campus as a Fellow, Rebecca is ready to jump into pro-Israel activism at Ryerson University this coming year. CAMERA on Campus looks forward to supporting her in her efforts!
