CAMERA on Campus warmly congratulates the State of Israel on assuming the presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) for 2025. This significant milestone underscores Israel’s unwavering commitment to Holocaust education, remembrance, and the global fight against antisemitism.

Under the leadership of Dani Dayan, Chairman of Yad Vashem, Israel’s presidency will focus on the theme “Crossroads of Generations,” emphasizing the crucial transition of Holocaust remembrance from survivors to future generations. As firsthand witnesses become fewer, it is imperative to ensure that their stories and the lessons of the Holocaust continue to resonate worldwide.

In alignment with this mission, CAMERA on Campus, in collaboration with the National Union of Israeli Students (NUIS) and World Zionist Organization (WZO) has been instrumental in encouraging Israeli academic institutions to adopt the IHRA working definition of antisemitism.

The adoption of the IHRA definition by these institutions not only strengthens their internal policies against discrimination but also sets a precedent for universities worldwide to recognize and address antisemitism in all its forms. This collective effort ensures that academic spaces remain safe and welcoming for all students, irrespective of their backgrounds.

CAMERA on Campus remains steadfast in its mission to support students and educators in promoting accurate information about Israel and the Jewish people. We look forward to continued collaboration with IHRA, WZO, NUIS, and other partners to advance Holocaust education and counter antisemitism globally.

Tom Yohay, manager of CAMERA on Campus in Israel: “There is something symbolic about the fact that 80 years after the liberation of the Jews from the Auschwitz death camp and about a year after the massacre of October 7, Israel becomes the president of the IHRA. It highlights the importance of the Jewish state for the Jews within and outside the land of Israel. As an Israeli Jew whose ancestors  suffered from antisemitism in Europe for hundreds of years since the Spanish inquisition through the Holocaust, it is crucial that more and more institutions, including within Israel, will adopt and abide by the guidelines of IHRA.
