CAMERA’s Gilad Skolnick just returned from a wonderful Birthright Reunion at Drexel University. This is our second year in a row of working with Drexel’s Hillel in sending students on Birthright.
Unique aspects of this partnership include having Israeli soldiers stay for the full 10 days of the Birthright trip as opposed to the usual five, having a media component while in Israel with CAMERA staff, and a follow up educational event about Israel back on campus. In Israel, students had the opportunity to meet with Adam Levick, the Managing Editor of CiF Watch, who spoke about CAMERA’s work and challenges with having the media report accurately about the Arab-Israeli conflict.
At Drexel, students enjoyed delicious food and listened to the comedian Joel Chasnoff speak about what it was like for him to live in Israel and discuss how Israel is often incorrectly perceived in the U.S. In addition, members of Dragons for Israel such as current CCAP Liaison Mia Smith and CAMERA Fellow Josh Dienstman spoke at the event about how students can get more involved with Dragons for Israel.
