The CAMERA on Campus team joins the Jewish and pro-Israel community in grieving for the six hostages murdered in cold-blood by Hamas terrorists in the tunnels under Rafah.
Today, we mourn the loss of:
Almog Sarusi, 27, from Ra’anana. Almog was kidnapped from the Nova Festival which he attended with his girlfriend Shahar, who was killed. Almog stayed with her, trying to help, but was abducted by terrorists and taken into Gaza.
Ori Danino, 25, from Jerusalem. Ori planned to start studies in electrical engineering. He was kidnapped from the Nova festival when he returned to help others escape.
Eden Yerushalmi, 24, from Tel Aviv worked as a bartender at the Nova festival along with her two best friends that were killed.
Carmel Gat, 40, from Tel Aviv. Carmel worked as an occupational therapist, a career in helping others. Tragically, her mother was killed on October 7th.
Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, from Jerusalem. An American-Israeli, Hersh was reported to be working on an initiative to bring Israeli and Palestinian children together through soccer. Hersh was attending the Nova Festival where he was abducted after having his arm blown off by terrorists. He planned to travel the world for two years that December.
Alex Lobanov, 32, from Ashkelon. A father with a 2-year-old son and a 5-month-old baby who was born while Alex was held captive. He was kidnapped from the Nova Festival after helping to rescue other people.
While we grieve, on college campuses and the streets of western capitals, anti-Israel students and agitators have spent almost an entire year celebrating the abduction and murder of innocent people taken hostage by Hamas on October 7th.
When news broke that the hostages were killed, anti-Zionists expressed their open support for the murder of Jews in cold blood. While we battle with those who side with evildoers, it’s as important for us to not let the memory of those who lost their lives fade away.
May their memories be a blessing.
There are still 101 hostages held in Gaza. We must continue to do everything we can to bring them home.
