CAMERA on Campus launched its “This Is Zionism” campaign in early April. The campaign equips Zionist students on campuses across the globe to speak out confidently for Israel.
“Since Hamas’ massacre of Israeli civilians on October 7, Zionist students on campuses across the world are being targeted like never before. Students who believe in the right of the Jewish people to self-determination in their indigenous homeland need our support,” said Douglas Sandoval, managing director for CAMERA on Campus.
For the fourth year in a row, the campaign offers a website (zionism.me) where students will find a comprehensive guide to understanding Zionism and responding to attacks on Zionism.
CAMERA on Campus will post shareable infographics and reels in collaboration with other Zionist activists, as well as host livestreams at @cameraoncampus on Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn.
Solidarity Against Hate: CAMERA on Campus Stands with Students Amidst Antisemitism at Columbia University and Other Campuses
In a striking juxtaposition, Columbia University President Minouche Shafik’s recent testimony before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce collided with a disturbing display of antisemitism unfolding on her university’s campus.
On April 17th, as President Shafik assured lawmakers of Columbia’s commitment to combating antisemitism, a group of anti-Israel students from Columbia and Barnard College established an encampment in defiance of university regulations.
The encampment, characterized by the annihilationist slogans of Hamas, an antisemitic terrorist organization, mirrored similar displays erupting across college campuses nationwide, with universities like MIT, Harvard, NYU, and Yale experiencing comparable demonstrations.
“All of these gatherings have been marred by alarming calls for violence against Jewish and pro-Israel students, with some participants openly endorsing designated terrorist organizations,” said Adam Gordon of CAMERA on Campus.
Reports of harassment, assaults, and a hostile climate targeting Jewish and Israeli students have surfaced from various campuses grappling with these unruly encampments. One incident saw a masked student brandishing a sign threatening Jewish students, reminiscent of tactics associated with the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing.

Binghamton students must categorically reject “BDS”

The campaign calling for the State University of New York system to adopt Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) must be categorically rejected.
“SUNY BDS”, an insidious unauthorized campaign run by students, faculty, and staff members on State University of New York (SUNY) campuses seeks to defame the world’ s only Jewish state and discriminate against Jewish students and faculty.
The “SUNY BDS” campaign targets Jews and Israelis. It is inherently racist and virulently antisemitic. Supporters of it call for the termination of partnerships between SUNY institutions and Israeli universities and organizations, the end of opportunities for SUNY students to attain jobs in the defense manufacturing industry, and the divestment of $250 million dollars in SUNY-associated pension funds and endowments in the Israeli bond market.
Alana Goldman is a 2023-2024 CAMERA Fellow at UNC – Chapel Hill.
2024 is a scary time to be a Jewish college student.
Hillel International published that antisemitic incidents on university campuses have increased 700 percent following Oct. 7, while the Anti-Defamation League reported in November 2023 that 73 percent of the Jewish students surveyed had experienced or witnessed some form of antisemitism since the beginning of the academic year.
It’s no coincidence that the proliferation of anti-Zionist rhetoric and propaganda glorifying the Hamas-led sexual violence and murder of approximately 1,200 Israeli civilians has risen as well.
Failure to Address Antisemitism at George Washington University is Betrayal to Students
Sabrina Soffer is a 2023-2024 CAMERA Fellow at George Washington University.
Calls to destroy Israel throbbed outside the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs last Thursday. Members of GW Student Coalition for Palestine (GWSCP) protested an event with U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield, shouting militant chants such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and calling Thomas-Greenfield a “Zionist Imperial Puppet.” They even hung a dozen-foot-long Palestinian flag over the building and handed out pamphlets that used the spelling “Amerikkka” to describe the U.S. amid claiming that “imperialism in blackface is not progress,” referencing Zionism.
With campus culture increasingly toxic in the wake of Hamas’s massacre of 1,200 Israelis on Oct. 7, the school administration promised to take steps to“strengthen our community in challenging times.” Receiving a generous “C” grade according to the new Anti-Defamation League (ADF) campus antisemitism report card, GW is failing to live up to its commitments.
Antisemitism at Michigan Colleges Has Reached Frightening Levels
Laela Saulson is a 2023-2024 CAMERA Fellow at Michigan State University (MSU).
In the past six months, violent antisemitic attacks have grown more common in higher education.
Jewish students at Columbia were attacked by individuals “wielding sticks” outside of their library; students at UC Berkeley were berated for attending an on-campus speaker event; and at Tulane, a student’s nose was broken while he was trying to stop protesters from burning an Israeli flag. Universities across the United States have found themselves in a serious predicament, and if they don’t figure out how to stop this blatant Jew hatred on campus, they will soon find their Jewish student populations dwindling.
A study published by the ADL at the end of November 2023, found that of the 700 college campuses and more than 3,000 students surveyed, students from nearly half of these schools reported at least one antisemitic incident on campus — and seven out of every 10 Jewish students had either experienced or witnessed antisemitism since the beginning of the Fall semester. And the numbers have only grown worse since.
