Jonathan Elkhoury’s Fall 2016 Tour Brings A New Perspective to Students
Jonathan Elkhoury‘s international CAMERA on Campus tour left hundreds of students at 17 campuses with yet another reason to be steadfast in their support for Israel. As CAMERA Fellow Patrick Fox noted after hearing Elkhoury speak at Clark University, his experiences as a gay Christian Lebanese Israeli stand as living proof of Israel’s commitment to the rights of LGBTQ people across the region. CAMERA Fellow Aviya Zarur was impressed by Elkhoury’s call for integrating and encouraging all minorities to work together for the state of Israel. Not only does Elkhoury address his rights as a minority living in Israel, he also brings awareness to the horrific human rights records in surrounding Arab countries, particularly with regard to LGBTQ and Christian communities.

Katrin Gendova, pictured second from left with CAMERA-supported group ORU United for Israel during her Ohio and Oklahoma campus tour, is originally from Bulgaria. She is a graduate of the University of California Irvine with a B.S. in International Affairs and Film & Media Studies. Her interest in Israel was sparked as she was growing up in Bulgaria and frequently traveling between both countries. Years later, during her freshman year at UCI, Katrin witnessed a lot of injustice and anti-Israel activities on campus. This realization inspired her to take action and join Anteaters for Israel and later become the president of the pro-Israel club on her campus, Students Supporting Israel at UC Irvine.
Dumisani Washington Visits
the University of Central Florida
In mid-November, Pastor Dumisani Washington (center) spoke at an event hosted by CAMERA-supported group Knights for Israel at UCF. Washington spoke to nearly 50 students, who left the event feeling inspired and reinvigorated.
“The biggest obstacle facing UCF’s student community is apathy, not religious hatred and intolerance. Knights for Israel thrives by bringing in unique perspectives and identities that draw genuine interest from students. Pastor Dumisani Washington was the ideal voice to reach students who possess little understanding of the significance of being pro-Israel on one’s campus,” said CAMERA Fellow and KFI President Ben Suster following the event.

In partnership with Jerusalem U, we helped bring major Israel celebrations to five campuses. NYU, UCLA, Penn, Rutgers, and Boston University had hundreds of Jewish students and community members in attendance, who watched the documentary Mekonenand enjoyed the accompanying “Unity Tour” Cafe Shachor Hazak concert afterwards.
