A fall course at Tufts University violates guidelines by the school’s president, according to a statement issued by CAMERA-supported group Tufts Friends of Israel.
Titled “Colonizing Palestine,” the course proposes to “explore the history and culture of modern Palestine and the centrality of colonialism in the making of this contested and symbolically potent territory,” according to the class description.
“By blindly condoning this course under the guise of the ‘free exchange of ideas,’ Tufts is explicitly endorsing a parochial narrative that rejects Jewish indigeneity to the land of their origin,” the group states.
“Tufts’ academic reputation is on the line here,” says Liel Asulin, campus coordinator with CAMERA. “Does the school want to be known for scholarship or political propaganda?”

CAMERA Fellow Spotlight
“As a progressive American, it’s good to know there’s a space for liberal Zionism within Zionist movements. I’ve also connected with people who have varying political views that have challenged me in positive ways.
It’s been an amazing to join a great network of students from across the world at CAMERA’s 8th Annual Student Leadership Conference who choose to express their commitment to high quality and accountable journalism, especially when it comes to matters surrounding Israel.”
